Geocache Description:

The Berwickshire railway, opened in 1863 and provided a link between the East Coast Main Line and the Waverley Line, linking in particular the towns of Duns and St Boswells. Running through rural countryside, the line was never busy with passenger and goods services in equal measure. Major flooding in 1948 suspended passenger services as the trackbed was washed away between Duns and Greenlaw. Repairs were never carried out and thereafter, only freight and the occasional special railtour passed between Greenlaw and St Boswells. The last freight service between Greenlaw and Hawick ran on the 16th July 1965 and the line officially closed three days later. This abandoned bridge hides from public view, the original station building, that is now a private residence.
