Once you locate the cache, if you have a dog with them, please give them a biscuit as reward - from Digger, he would have loved that!
The 46 hectares of West Dorset chalk downland is home to a super range of downland butterflies and some special moths. It overlooks the River Frome valley and there are fine views towards the West Dorset coast. The grassland has been protected from agricultural 'improvement' and so has a wonderful range of the natural grassland communities found on the West Dorset chalk hills. Butterfly Conservation leases the site and manages it though grazing and scrub control.
You will need your own pen, and probably tweezers to extract the log!
NB - Please note: despite the proximity of the A37, you cannot access the cache location from there; use the parking position provided in the lane which runs west off the main road, and enter through the gate.
