Finally we have a fantastic science museum in Dallas. It isn't exactly Chicago's Institute of Science and Technology, but then again, that baby is the best of it's kind in the world - worth it's own trip if you've never spent a day enjoying their exhibits. The Perot Museum of Science and Technology is a fantastic place in it's own right, and Dallas is very fortunate to have such kind benefactors who have had such great vision for this city, and who have provided us with such world-class institutions, despite our much smaller size when compared to Chicago and New York. It is a true eye-catching building that is clearly an ecologically-sensitive architectural marvel. Inside is floor after floor of extremely impressive exhibits. Some of it has been brought over from Fair Park, where the city's previous science museum stood, but most of it is brand new. The strongest point of the exhibits is their interactivity. This is not a museum where you just go in and look. Here, you play, you fiddle, you crank this, you pull that, you mix all of these together. If you have children who like to touch, pull, and push on everything they walk past, then this is the place for them. They will be in heaven because every exhibit has something interactive. Bring your kids to find this cache, then find something inside to further stir their imagination. You are looking for a small container that doesn't require walking on or leaning over any busy roads - so stay off them and stay safe!
