An easy cache but NOT accessible from the dual carriageway
HALDON HILL TOLLHOUSE ,KENN
Now called Turnpike Cottage this is located on the old A38 and is not accessible from the dual carriageway.
Built in 1822 for the Plymouth and Exeter Turnpike Trust this is a typical example of a toll house with arched windows. It is reported that there is still a stone floor and that the toll keeper`s cash drawer remains below the window sill. Now extended and a Grade II listed private house on the old A38 It can be accessed from the Torquay to Exeter road but NOT from the Plymouth to Exeter dual carriageway instead branch off left at the top of the hill .
The cache is on the bend above the Tollhouse. Look for the last multi-trunked beech tree in the row. There was a pencil in to start off but it`s preferable to bring your own.GPS was variable under the tree so please use the hint
Although it is well below the road and not visible it is noisy !!
This road does have traffic please keep chidren and animals under control
