Treasured memories of our past
TO FORGET ONES ANCESTORS IS TO BE A BROOK WITHOUT A SOURCE ,A TREE WITHOUT A ROOT.

Mum left school at the end of grade 7 as did many of that time.
Her Head Master helped her obtain a job at the Mt Barker Railway stn, working in the tea room.
She made cakes and served sandwiches and cups of tea .
There was great excitement when a train pulled into the station.
She also worked at the local picture theatre as an usherette .
Before marrying she worked as a childs Nanny for a local DR by the name of W Betts.
To this day she talks of caring for the 2 small boys and the many things she learnt from the Dr.
Which bought her into good stead when she had 3 daughters of her own.
At this time Mum lived on Nth Tce/Adelaide Rd. with her family who had moved from Strathalbyn to here.
She had 7 brothers and sisters.
The site is now occupied by 'Shortcut Mowers'
