Geocache Description:

There is nothing unique or difficult about the hide. Stay in the intended pedestrian area. It is not in the landscaping or shrubs. Stealth may or may not be necessary. The park is open from dawn until 10:00 pm and is well lighted after dark.

Although it is very tiny, Mechanicstown Square Park in Thurmont, Maryland features a freestanding clock, Civil War story board, fish pond, gazebo, two bistro tables (with chairs) where one might while away the lunch hour playing checkers or chess on the attached metal boards (bring your own playing pieces), a mini-free library, and a community announcement station. The landscaping is well maintained and the area is always festively decorated during the Christmas holiday season. The park was dedicated on April 28, 2001. A time capsule awaits 2101 to be opened.
