Lulin Lodge is a guest house of Yushan National Park in Tataka area. Although it isn't open to public, you can still enjoy the scenry and fresh air along the Yushan Forest Road. If you are lucky, you might bump into Mikado's Pheasant(帝雉) or Formosan Reeve's muntjac(山羌).
This rustic Japanese-style house at the foot of Lulin Mountain is Lulin Lodge. In earlier days, this is where climbers rested up before ascending Yushan; they would often walk a full day from Xinggaokou, sleep here, and climb to the peak the next morning. The original Lulin Lodge was built by the Tainan Prefectural Government in 1934 during the Japanese occupation period. Today's Lulin Lodge was rebuilt in 1986 by Yusjan National Park, based on the original floor plan. Countless people have come through here, enjoying the mountain's awesome scenery.

這棟座落於鹿林山山麓，質樸的日式平房是『鹿林山莊』。早年攀登玉山，這裡是重要的歇宿據點，登山者通常會從新高口步行一天到鹿林山莊過夜，翌日再從這裡出發向玉山前進。鹿林山莊最早是昭和九年(1934)台南州廳以檜木所建，由阿里山國立公園協會管理，可容納百人住宿，而後隨著歲月流轉，山莊日漸傾頹，1986年玉山國家公園管理處依原樣重修，即是現在看到的鹿林山莊。駐足凝想，自古以來曾有無數人在這裡嚮往著玉山的容顏。
