Upper Dongpu/上東埔解說站 Traditional Cache

About 1 km away from Tataka (塔塔加), Upper Dongpu (上東埔) is the start point of a 14 km climb journey to Yushan peak, highest in north-east Asia. Roadside service post provides information brochure, seating area, and also spectacular views for travellers. A small "Dongpu lodge" beneath the parking area, is the only accommodation facility open to public in Tataka area.

Don't be surprised if a helicopter landed aside. This parking lot, is sometimes the busiest heliport in Taiwan. They transported supplies to the weather station in Yushan North Peak, or construction materials to remote sites.
