The Texas Spirit Quest
is a series of Caches placed by many individuals, near cemeteries and historic sites in hopes of paying respect to the many pioneer ancestors that have ‘walked’ before us.
There are hundreds of cemeteries in the rural communities across Texas. This series will introduce you to many of them. The cache pages will provide a virtual history tour of the cemeteries, tombstones and local lore.
TEMPORARILY RELOCATED PENDING COMPLETION OF ROADWORK. CEMETERY IS ON OTHER SIDE OF HIGHWAY AND TO THE SOUTH. This is also known as the Moore-Trigg Cemetery. There are 30 interments here, with dates ranging from 1856 to 1955. Members of the Moore, Morris, Price, Trigg, and Young families are buried here amongst others.
The site can be seen from the road but there does not appear to be any public access. It is surrounded by its own fence and is 30 or 40 feet beyond the roadside fenceline. Evidently it receives periodic maintenance--a picture of the location from 2008 shows everything looking almost exactly as it does in February of 2013.
