I love caches that are hidden in plain sight, perfectly camouflaged and invisible to muggles, yet quickly visible to geocachers - even from a distance.
This is one of them. Enjoy!
We were on our way to Alex's football practice at a nearby park, when the Cache Van suddenly sputtered to a stop. I knew I was low on gas, but didn't realize how close we were to an empty tank. Sitting in the middle of Miller Drive with two kids in the car, I quickly considered my options: walk 5 blocks to a gas station and back, call AAA... and then I remembered Cindy!
Cindy is one of the Team Moms for the West Kendall Dolphins, my son's team. I guessed she would be at the park and had her number on my phone, so I called her up. A true hero, she drove out to where we were, picked up the kids, dropped off Alex at practice, went to her house, grabbed a gas can, went to a gas station, filled it up and went back to were I was stranded to drop off little Nick and the gas. Wow! I really, really owe her!
While all this was going on, I stood by my car and considered commemorating the occasion by hiding a cache at that spot. Looking around, I spotted one of my few options and realized I had the perfect container, already painted the perfect color, in the back on the Cache Van! After waiting for a few muggles to drive off, I quickly placed the cache and marked the spot.
