offline.cacher: The general rule reviewers use to archive a cache is that the cache owner has been notified (through a log entry) by the reviewer and that no response has been forthcoming. This is the case with this cache. As a result it has been archived.

Geocache Description:

In my never ending quest to bring the Geocaching community historical themed caches I present: CRANFORD.

Cranford United Methodist Church and cemetery sits near the first site of Pohick Church (1730-1774), making this one of the earliest site of a religious institution in Fairfax County. George Mason and George Washington attended church here. The current church was constructed in 1900. Four miles from this site is George Mason’s estate. George Mason was a Revolutionary Leader and author of the Virginia Declaration of Rights and the first Constitution of Virginia. On a warm Sunday in June of 1700 an Indian attack occurred near this site. The Indians attacked the house of Thomas Barton killing eight persons with “arrows and wooden tommahawkes.” The Indians involved were unhappy about English encroachment on their lands and were probable encouraged by the French to attack. The church has graciously provided me permission to hide this unique geocache on their land. Please respect the property as this is Holy Ground and the final resting place for many souls. Do not try and attempt to find this geocache in the dark, daylight geocaching only. Parking is provided at the church or on the street. I created this geocache container concept when I was living in Maine. It allows me to hide geocaches in plain sight at historical markers. You are looking for an above ground flower pot. Remove the flowers by pulling up on the stem. You will find a separate container with the logbook inside.   The First to Find prize is a coin from my first submarine, the USS MAINE (SSBN 741) Enjoy, Tim&Cara
