Geocache Description:

The 280 Series is set along what was the 280 bus route until early January 2024 when it became the X7 route between Aylesbury and Oxford, a total of 25 miles.

There are 10 caches to be found. All are near to bus stops, but none are actually on bus stop property. They could be found as a cache and dash in a car (or by bike) or by using the 280 bus for some or all of the journey. For cache n' dashers there is no need to park at a bus stop, so no bus need be inconvenienced.

The owner when he placed the caches only used the bus (he is of the age where bus passes are provided), but it involved 7 trips on the 280, plus one to return. However, 3 times he walked between stops as these were a reasonably short distance. 2 of the 3 walking stretches take you through Haddenham and Wheatley, villages with good eating places and older buildings of interest. The first and last caches are near to further educational establishments. There were no cache and dash possibilities within a mile of the terminals in Aylesbury or Oxford, hence the start and finish being where they are.

The 280 - #10 is a magnetic tube about 6 inches long. Please provide your own writing means to complete the logsheet. The location is close to Brookes University (Gipsy Lane campus) which has just under 20,000 students throughout the 4 locations. So, muggles abound at all times of the day (and night). This is not suitable for a cache 'n dash.

geocaching.com states under 'Help Center' in Paragraph 1.7. Geocaching etiquette: 'We like to keep things fun for everyone, so we have a few rules we encourage everyone to follow. Sign both the logbook and log your find online to get your smiley. Geocache owners love reading about your experience'. There are more rules, but this is the first one. This cache owner requests that if on the rare occasion geocachers are unable to sign, an explanation is given in their log. A photo of the cache, if possible should then be sent through the messaging system.
