While hiding the cache, I am looking at the Page Point Inn Marina. To the right, I see a lone Arbutus tree (and a slash pile). To the left, I see 3 Arbutus trees. What a view! And I only walked about 50 ft. Off the trail. The container is a film container, small. BYOP. No room for collectibles.
This cache can be accessed along a retired logging road which starts at the end of Malone Road. Park there, or at Brown Drive Park, Colonia Dr. Some may wish to start from the Comox Logging Road, but be prepared for a creek crossing (weather influenced) and an initial, very steep climb. Follow the Natural Gas Pipeline until you discover the right road, which will take you uphill, for several kilometers. Some of the area has been recently logged. Along the route there are excellent views of Ladysmith Harbour, the Islands and the lower mainland. The roadway is solid and gently inclining. Might be overgrown a bit in places. Limited Off Road Exploration is required. Personally, I enjoy the walk, but the area is great for cyclists, and even “Geobikes”, quads, etc.
