Part of the Church Micro Series administered by Sadexploration.

The cache is situated on the roadside opposite the church, it is not on private land, but please park sensibly and be aware of other road users.

Please retrieve and replace cache carefully.






St Peters Church, Sibthorpe


This church and adjacent dovecote are real treasures, both steeped in history and quite rightly coveted by the community and historical societies. I have previously had a cache here, but archived it due to infrequent visitors.

It is clear that this church (and the ones nearby) are worthy of inclusion on the Church Micro series.

The relevant dates for the church are below, the excellent website (Southwell & Nottingham Church History Project) provides all of the information required about the church, there is however an information board opposite the cache site.

1351 Thomas de Sibthorpe murdered. Buried in church
1545 College suppressed by Henry VIII
1662 Aisles demolished
1720 Estate passes to Duke of Portland
1844 Itinerant Bethel Chapel on wheels built Restoration of church criticised
1858 Further restoration approved
1965 Restoration to avoid demolishing nave
