This is a series of caches replacing the "Welcome to the English Riviera" series, designed to take you on a stroll along the shoreline of this town i call home. In 1888 the Rec. (or should i say Recreation) Ground was the first sporting arena to open in Torquay, with a rugby match between Torquay Athletic and local rivals Newton Abbot. It is still the home of Torquay Athletic but is also used during the summer months by Torquay Cricket Club. On the southern end on the ground are two very impressive turnstile entry gates, these allowed entry into the rugby ground and the Kings Bowling Club, made famous by the film Blackball, and from where the self styled "bad boy of bowls", Griff Sanders (whom the film is about) was banned for hi outlandish behaviour (he was also banned by the Devon County Bowling Association for 10 years). Please keep dogs under control as there are quite a few ducks around this pond, also please keep a close eye on young children due to the proximity of water. In spring there's often a swan nest somewhere in the area.
