Geocache Description:

The 4th in the Moss valley series.

A substantial dam that drove a grinding wheel operated by the Bolsover family from Mosborough Moor. The wheel sharpend the implements manufactured at other sites in the valley.

My scythe and hammer lies reclin’d

My bellows too have lost their wind

My iron is spent, my steel is gone

My scythes are set, my work is done

My fires extinct, my forge decay’d

My body in the dust is laid

The Cache is sited on a broad track that leads northwards from the dam towards Plumbley. This is the route of the Plumbley tramway that carried coal from the valley to a weighing macine at Plumbleu
