Browngang: Checked today and it was gone. As it was a one of a kind I have to archive. Local larrikins knew it was there unfortunately.

Geocache Description:

Spooney's Bay, Spooney's Beach, Spooney's Creek, now Spooney's cache. There used to be another cache near here, in fact it was one of my first finds. You are looking for a largish holder with a 1kg fruit container inside. It is an old cache of mine that neaded to see the light of day again!

Up until 1947, the Bonny Hills area was known as "Green Hills".

When some entrepreneurial gentlemen wanted to open a new post office, they submitted "Green Hills" to the Postal Department, but there was already other places named Green Hills. At the next Green Hills Progress Association meeting, a tourist suggested "Bonny Hills". This was adopted by the meeting and accepted by the Postal Department. Back then, there were only six permanent residences.

The name "Spooney's Bay" comes from the nickname of Sammy Systers who used to live at the eastern end of the caravan park nearby.

The new skatepark on the western side of Ocean Drive used to be fenced off for holidaying horses. That was the only method of transport for the tourists staying at the caravan park in the early days!
