Along the Boudewijn canal from Brugge towards Zeebrugge near the village Lissewege there are some fuel storage bunkers. You can come close to the tanks via the Beukemarestraat.

The building of the tanks was originally started up by the Belgium army and taken over by the Germans. They modified the plans as soon as the occupation started. The tanks can contain about 6.000.000 litres of fuel in total. There where pump stations to pump the fuel in and from the tanks by a special underground pipeline towards Zeebrugge harbour.

Langs het Boudewijnkanaal van Brugge naar Zeebrugge in de buurt van het dorp Lissewege zijn er een aantal opslaginstallaties voor brandstof. U kunt langs de Beukemarestraat in de buurt van de tanks komen.

De bouw van de tanks werd oorspronkelijk opgestart door de Belgische leger en nadien overgenomen door de Duitsers tijdens de oorlog. Zij wijzigden de plannen als de bezetting begon. De tanks konden ongeveer 6.000.000 liter brandstof in totaal opslaan. Speciale pompen zorgden voor de bevoorading van brandstof langs ondergrondse pijplijdingen naar Zeebrugge en voor de opbouw van de Atlanik wall.
