Legion Field was the main football and activity field for North Weymouth for most of the 1900s. With the expansion of the South High School into the main high school for the town the field fell into disuse. The old football stands had asbestos and were torn down. The field was used as a dumping grounds for dirt during the construction of the Greenbush line. During the early 2000s there had been several different plans floated for restoring the field back to public use but none implemented. In 2012 the exterior fence was restored and stood as a lovely barrier to an empty field.
In 2015 the field was restored with new turf soccer fields, new tennis courts, a large play structure and a path around the field. Come find the cache and enjoy this restored public space.
