HI Geocachers: The Smiling Panini Traditional Cache

This cache is temporarily unavailable.

Greatland Reviewer: Dear Cubbybear1963,

I have been going through caches that have multiple "DNF" (did not find) logs, which is often a sign that a cache is missing. Generally cachers avoid hunting a cache with many DNF logs, so it is a good idea for the Cache Owner to check the cache and either replace it or post a log to the cache page to tell fellow geocachers that the cache is still there, but they might need new eyeglasses. No action by the Cache Owner may result in a cache being archived to keep the cache from appearing in local Pocket Queries.

Please reenable the cache page after you have maintained your cache. To reenable the cache, go to the cache from your Account page on GC.com. Under "Admin Tools" in the upper right-hand corner, click "Enable," write your note and click "Submit log entry."

Please contact me if you have any questions.

Regards,

Geocache Description:

Naturalized in dry disturbed areas of the Main Hawaiian Islands.  Dull green or grayish with or without pale spines & barrel-shaped fruit.  Fruit & young 'leaves' edible after spines are removed.  A domesticated species originating from Mexico & cultivated around the world.

Aloha! Welcome Mauna Kea State Park, a beautiful oasis located at about the half way point of the cross island Saddle Road. This beautiful park has amazing views of the "White Mountain" and is a favorite rest stop of locals and tourist alike. It's a great place to picnic after caching a few geocaches in the area.

The regular size cache is located on the left hand side of the park up a unpaved road. if you do not have a 4- wheel drive vehicle I would suggest that you park in the parking area by the telephoe, and walk the 0.20 miles to the cache.

You will be looking for a large cactus bush on the left side of the road. At the time of placement someone had cut a happy face on one of the leaves.
Please be aware of the sharp and dangerous needles on the plant. I had poked myself in the head placing the cache. Remember this is a very tranquil and powerful place so, respect the 'aina and malama the area. Please replace the cache as found, and watch out for the thorns!
Mahalo to Hiloshell and Del...FTF!
