A series of Caches around Pontefract and Featherstone - some easy, some slightly more challenging.
Before we discovered Geocaching our Springer Spaniel, Rosie, went on the same walk every Friday or Saturday - and this is it, exactly the route we used to take. It is about 9 miles round and should take you about 3 hours at a reasonable pace. Of course Rosie now enjoys a different walk every time she goes out as we plunder new caching areas, so in honour of her old favourite we decided to make it into a series and dedicate it to her.
The route covers mainly parks and footpaths but there are some road stretches so please take sensible precautions with kids and dogs etc - there is one stretch about halfway through of a couple of miles on road,,,,,,You will pass a few pubs, shops and a burger joint so should be plenty of opportunity to fuel up if needed.
The caches themselves are a mixed bag, some are standard tupperware and others a little bit different - the difficulty follows the same pattern with some being very easy and others quite challenging. D/T ratings try to reflect our view, but I always feel they are a bit subjective and a personal view so please let us know if you think any are way out (either way).
You will need to collect numbers along the way in order to be able to find the bonus - nothing complicated, just standard code for final co-ordinates.
One final thing - this area has a lot of caches in it and so there are some fairly big gaps between caches at some points - this can't be helped as we wanted to stay faithful to the original route!
