Geocache Description:

Almost...Top of Fairfield County Cache 2

I was asked by the NFA to replace the previous cache (GCVC4Y) in this location which was recently archived. The old cache stated this location was the highest point in Fairfield County. So I asked my old friend. Maxwell Smart, if this was true.

  • Max: This is highest point in Fairfield County. Would you believe it?
  • Giriando: I find that hard to believe Max, as Slope Point, in Sherman is 1,290 feet. see: Slope Point
  • Max: Would you believe this is the second highest point in Fairfield county?
  • Giriando: No Max, that would be Pond Mountain in New Fairfield at 1,194 feet, this hill is only 830 feet.
  • Max: Would you believe this hill plus a 500 foot ladder is the tallest in Fairfield County?
  • Giriando: hmm....No
  • Max:Missed it by that much!

OK, Max and I agree that this the highest point in Newtown and it is amazing at sunrise and sunset.

Note: This property is accessible year round to all but is closed at night. All NFA properties are held in trust and are open to the public from sunrise to sunset. Dogs are allowed but must be on leash and under the owner's control at all times.
