Geocache Description:

This hide brings you to Van Vorst Park in beautiful dowtown Jersey City. The park is not really named for a man so much as a family (although Cornelius was mayor from 1880-82). The first Van Vorst arrivals, in the 1630's, were the superintentent of the patroonship Pavonia. For those of you who laughed at the opening line, come on down. There are many new restaurants and the park is really amazing. This isn't your grandmothers' JC anymore!

Please explore the revitalized JC downtown. Wander through the park and check out the roped off nature trail. You are searching for a cammoed bison tube off the trail. The trail head is opposite the gazebo and you must step over the wall. Please make sure you stay on the rock path! Don't approach GZ directly from the sidewalk, start at the trail head. Once you are under the bough of ivy, look up. You may need a flashlight on all but the brightest days. Watch for long spikes on the ivy. I have made this more secure. Please loosen the nut only. Do not try to disconnect the holder. There is limited on-street parking but the park is easily accessible from the Grove St PATH station. Please let me know what you thought of the area in your logs.
