I, kodiakwoodsman, being of questionably sound mind and sound body do here by bequeath to the caching community my 50th geocaching hide...
Once upon a time, a cacher set out to place a cache that would make other geocachers quiver with fear and have them jump at every noise they heard. This is his story...
It was a cloudy and deary day, because these kind of things never happen on bright happy days, when kodiakwoodsman pulled into the parking lot. He thoguht to himself, "It looks like rain...", but not being one to shy away from a little water he pressed on. As he neared the woods he heard the sound of something in the reeds surrounding the pond behind him but he paid it no heed. As he entered the tree line to find a place for the first container he turned around and saw a HUGE crocodile coming right at him. He was rightfully confused as crocodiles are not native to this part of Ohio. Just as the beast was about to close its massive jaws around his leg our intrepid cache hider jumped back, narrowly missing those deadly teeth. But when he did so the container that was in his hand fell to the ground and was quickly snapped up by the crocodile. This was a tragic turn of events because he was determined to hide this cache and had just enough containers with him to make the cache everything he hoped... So he pulled out his trusty pocket knife and decided to extract the container from the reptile's maw by any means necessary... The crocodile was caught off guard, being so big it was used to being the attacker not the attackee, but you don't get between a cacher and a geocache container. During the struggle the container lodged in the teeth of the behemoth. This forced our hero's hand and he quickly ended the monster. But try as he might he could not free the container from the creature's cold dead jaws... but luck was on his side because the top of the container stuck out from between the teeth so he decided to hide the whole head...
Bruised and a little bloody, luckily most not his own, our hero continued down the trail. As he approached a near perfect location for the second stage of his cache he saw someone in the woods... It looked like they were looking for something, it couldn't be a geocache he knew there weren't any on this trail yet, so he approached them. He made sure that they knew he was coming, it's awfully rude to sneak up on someone in the woods after all, still they jumped and they had a shifty look about them. When he queried them about what they were doing they replied that they were looking for somewhere to hide a geocache. Now this greatly disturbed our would-be hero because this is after all what he was doing. Normally this would not be an issue because there is plenty of room along the trail for another cache but that would mean one of them would have to leave this "perfect" spot, something that neither of them seemed willing to do. Our protagonist tried to talk the other cacher down convince him that he should move along and find a "better" place for his cache. It was at this point that the other cacher lost it. He attacked kodiakwoodsman who was, once again, forced to defend himself. Lucky for him his assailant was so angry that when he attacked, he tripped and fell backwards hitting his head on a rock. Well the right thing to do seemed to let the cacher have the spot, sort of, once the majority of the body was hidden he used the other cacher's head as "camouflage"...
Feeling pretty good about himself, he had already hidden 2 of the 4 containers he brought with him after all. He continued along the trail... Now your probably expecting the next 2 hides to have harrowing tales associated with them also, but sadly that was not the case... He managed to hide the last 2 containers with no problems. What he didn't know is that the ghost of that other cacher had placed a curse on him... When he came back to the cache sites to place the coordinates into the containers the ink would vanish right off the page as soon as it was removed by a cacher. His beta tester told him of the problem so he came out and together they looked at the paper, the beta tester saw nothing but a blank page, but our supposed hero could see the writing... Convinced that his beta tester was messing with him he submitted the cache for publication... Several well known cachers have attempted the cache only to either come up empty or to be forced to quit their search because of things they saw, or perhaps didn't see, along the trail... But legend tells that the cache is still out there for you to find...If you figure out how to beat the curse that is...
Now for some "boring bits". This is intended to be a NIGHT CACHE. That means you start at or after sun down and completed in the dark. First to find rights will be given to the first finders to do it during these times. I cannot require you to take pictures but I do encourage it. Don't worry about spoiling the containers... but keep the way to beat the curse out of your pictures if you can please... This trail gets used by horses during the day and they like to leave trail apples so please watch your step. You will need 2 kinds of lights for this cache one to see by and one to beat the curse... Please do not bushwhack between the stages the trail runs within 100' of each stage I know it may be faster but if you are doing the cache at night, as you should be, the terrain between the stages not on the trail is way to challenging...
