Geocache Description:

Tamamura Hachimangu Shrine is the main shrine in Tamamura. To get to the shrine, turn at the large red gate (tori). There are parking spaces outside and inside the shrine area. Good luck!

The shrine has two statues that are famous in Japan. One is the "See no evil; hear no evil; speak no evil" monkeys (much larger than the ones in Nikko). The other is a statue of Kinjiro Ninomiya (Sontoku Ninomiya). The statue is of Ninomiya reading a book while carrying wood. The statue is meant to inspire others. That Ninomiya is reading his book shows that study is important to him and the wood strapped to his back shows his hard work to help support his family.

The cache is in a waterproof plastic container. Hachimangu is a relatively peaceful place except during festivals when you will need to be aware of muggles.
