Geocache Description:

“Purtinga” is the local indigenous name used by the local Peramangk people for the creek which runs alongside the wetland. Purtinga means a small creek or waterhole.

This wetland system receives large volumes of stormwater run-off from neighbouring residential and industrial areas as well as the South Eastern Freeway.

The wetlands were established to meet the following objectives.

-Water quality Improvement: Through sedimentation and the use of water loving plants to remove nutrients, the wetlands improve the quality of stormwater flowing into Purtinga Creek.

-Flood Control: By slowing the flow of water, the wetland reduces bank erosion in Purtinga Creek.

-Education: The wetlands provides a valuable learning resource for the study of biodiversity and water quality.

-Habitat: The wetlands provide a home for native plants and animals.

-Recreation: With The District Council of Mount Barker's Linear Trail adjacent to the Purtinga Creek and wetland, the area provides a pleasant recreational space.

And for Brisal 5 the trail leads to the southern entrance to where Confusing Too GC3HQTF is hidden.

And of course another place to visit and another hide!
