HU: A Budai Parkszínpad (korábban Bartók Színpad) egykor szabadtéri koncert-, színházi helyszín és mozi volt, majd közel 10 éves elhagyatottság után felújítva jelenleg nyári vendéglátóhely.
A helyén az 50-es években salakos futballpálya volt ahol korábban a szomszédos tűzoltólaktanya legénysége, valamint a budapesti főiskolákra járó kelet-ázsiai fiatalok játszottak de aztán belepte a gaz. A politikai vezetés 1958 elején nyilvánította ki a szándékát a környező park rendezésére, játszótérrel és kulturális programokhoz egy nagy szabadtéri színpaddal és meg is kezdődött az építkezés a kerületi Tanács, tömegszervezetek, üzemek és lakosok összefogásában. Eredetileg még abban az évben Augusztus 20-án szerették volna átadni, de ez végül csak 1959 Május 1-én történt meg Bartók Színpad néven, 2750 négyzetméteren 2200 személyes nézőtérrel.
EN: The Budai Parkszínpad (Parkstage of Buda, formerly Bartók Stage) was once an open-air concert, theater, and cinema venue. After nearly 10 years of neglect, it was renovated and is now pub during the summer months.
In the 1950s, there was a cinder football field on the site, where the crew of the neighboring fire station and young people from East Asia attending colleges in Budapest used to play, but then it became overgrown with weeds. In early 1958, the political leadership announced its intention to develop the surrounding park with a playground and a large outdoor stage for cultural programs, and construction began with the cooperation of the district council, mass organizations, factories, and residents. Originally, they wanted to open it on August 20 of that year, but this did not happen until May 1, 1959, under the name Bartók Stage, with an area of 2,750 square meters and a seating capacity of 2,200.

HU: Az elején főleg színházi- és balettelőadásokat rendeztek itt, de sor került vidám esztrádműsorokra, könnyed musicalekre, nótaestekre, divatbemutatókra, külföldi (pl. ghánai, kubai, mali) táncegyüttesek és revüszínházak fellépésére is valamint szélesvásznú moziként működött, rögtön filmpremierekkel is. 1961-ben alkották meg az ország első billenő színpadát amit gyorsan az ország legnagyobb vetítővásznává lehetett átalakítani. 1965-ben a helyszínt átnevezték Budai Parkszínpadra.
EN: In the beginning, mainly theater and ballet performances were staged here, but there were also lighthearted variety shows, light musicals, song recitals, fashion shows, performances by foreign (e.g., Ghanaian, Cuban, Mali) dance groups and revue theaters, and it also functioned as a wide-screen cinema, immediately showing film premieres. In 1961, the country's first tilting stage was created, which could be quickly converted into the country's largest projection screen. In 1965, the venue was renamed Budai Parkszínpad (Parkstage of Buda).

HU: A 70-es 80-as években a mozin és a zenés színházon (musicalek, rockoperák) túl a magyar pop-, rock- és jazzélet egyik budai központjaként működött (pl. a korabeli "szupergroup" a Locomotiv GT (LGT) bemutatkozó fellépése is itt volt 1971-ben).

HU: A rendszerváltás után a park és a színpad tulajdoni jogai megosztottá váltak a főváros és a kerület között ami nehezítette a kezelését, volt régebbi elképzelés a fejlesztésére, lefedéses hozzáépítésre egy egész évben használható kulturális helyszínhez, de ez a budapesti közparkokra érvényes beépítési szabályok (a zöldterületek aránya) miatt sem tudott megvalósulni, mert a maximális arányt az itt már meglévők is meghaladták. A zajos programok miatt a környék lakói gyakrabban panaszkodtak emiatt egyre kevesebb programot szerveztek és végül 2005-ben be is zárták.
EN: After the change of regime, ownership rights to the park and stage were divided between the capital and the district, which made management difficult. There was an older idea to develop it into a cultural venue that could be used all year round, with a covered extension, but this could not be realized due to the building regulations applicable to public parks in Budapest (the ratio of green areas), because the maximum ratio was already exceeded by the existing buildings. Due to the noisy programs, local residents complained more and more often, so fewer and fewer programs were organized, and it was finally closed in 2005.

HU: 2005-től 2014-ig (ekkor lett a láda is rejtve) üresen állt és az őrzésére sem volt pénz, így állapota folyamatosan romlott, helyenként életveszélyessé vált, szétlopták, benőtte a gaz, ellepte a szemét, hajléktalanok költöztek be. Helyi civil szervezetek küzdöttek a helyzet ellen, például a lakossággal együtt szervezett takarítással. A főváros szerette volna lebontani és a helyén egy Bartók-emlékparkot létrehozni de ez csak elképzelés maradt.
EN: From 2005 to 2014 (when the cache was hidden), it stood empty and there was no money to guard it, so its condition deteriorated steadily, becoming life-threatening in places. It was looted, overgrown with weeds, covered with rubbish, and homeless people moved in. Local civil organizations fought against this situation, for example by organizing clean-ups with the local population. The capital city wanted to demolish it and create a Bartók memorial park in its place, but this remained only an idea.

HU: 2014 nyarán egy politikailag vitatott hosszútávú bérleti szerződés megkötése után kezdődött meg a rekonstrukciója és átalakítása ami a tervezett költségének végül két-háromszorosába került az infrastruktúrának a becsültnél is rosszabb állapota miatt (újra ki kellett építeni a víz és áramellátást, csatornarendszert, konyhát és mosdókat építeni, újrabetonozni és térkövezni az egykori nézőteret stb.). A fogadóépületbe kerültek a bárpult és büfé funkciók (a büfé szolgáltatója az évek során változott), a nézőtér padsorai helyére teraszos kiülők asztalokkal kerültek, föléjük napvitorlák, az egykori zenekari árkot homokkal töltötték fel játszótérnek, külön bejáratos színpad mögötti ligetes rész saját bárpulttal, illetve a hozzá tartozó két kiszolgáló épületben alkalmi funkciókkal, pl. kisebb kiállításokhoz. 2015 nyarán nyílt meg újra "Új Budai Parkszínpad" néven nyári (kb. május-szeptember) délutáni vendéglátó helyként a nem esős napokon (a szomszédok kérése nyomán már hangosabb programok nélkül így színpadtechnika sem épült).
EN: In the summer of 2014, following the conclusion of a politically controversial long-term lease agreement, reconstruction and renovation work began, which ultimately cost two to three times the planned amount due to the poor condition of the infrastructure (the water and electricity supply, sewer system, kitchen and washrooms had to be re-built, and the former auditorium had to be re-concreted and paved, etc.). The bar and buffet functions were moved to the reception building (the buffet provider has changed over the years), the rows of seats in the auditorium were replaced by terrace tables with sunshades above them, the former orchestra pit was filled with sand to create a playground, and the grove behind the stage with a separate entrance was equipped with its own bar counter and two service buildings with occasional functions, e.g. for smaller exhibitions. In the summer of 2015, it reopened as the Új Budai Parkszínpad (New Parkstage of Buda) as a summer (approx. May-September) afternoon pub on non-rainy days (at the request of the neighbors, without loud programs so no stage equipment was installed).
