Geocache Description:

akgh519 and I were introduced to the nature trail passing through the Calvin and Coyle Woodland Park by finding NeverSummer's "Calvin and Coyle" (GC469MB). Seeing the map at the trailhead, there seemed to be an 'obvious' location to hide a cache, but that area is already in the works by another Homer geocacher, The_Firefly.
Update: The obvious location now has a cache: "Who Likes Mosquitos?" (GC47DCZ)

We decided to check out that spot and along the way, there are several informative signs along the marked trail. The sign at this spot in particular grabbed my attention. You are looking for a painted match container. (UPDATE 13 March 2015: Container is now a bison) This isn't my usual type of hide, in that it is not associated with a high terrain rating. Riding down to Homer along the Seward Highway in the winter was extreme enough for me! Most, including akgh519, wouldn't consider this feat 'living on the edge'. However, Mark Twain wisely stated, "If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you always got." Christopher Columbus 'discovered' the New World for Europe. For me, the reward for expanding my horizons was to experience Homer without all of the summer muggles, including this nice park.

Please be careful as you walk this trail, as it can be muddy or icy depending on the weather conditions. There are trail markers to show you the way. As you get closer to the viewing platform, you will be entering designated critical habitat areas, so please stay on the trail. Cache In, Trash Out, and have fun!

Congratulations to NeverSummer for the FTF!
