Cachaholics Anonymous: Step 7 Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

glorieme: As a cacher, and as part of Step 7 requirements, I humbly ask my caching friends to accept my shortcomings.

It's time to let this one of the series go. We all have seasons in life, and mine involves a lot of travel, and not enough time to commit to this cache. It's odd, and I know difficult, for some cachers to accept that not all the steps in the 12 step system are available and present.

I humbly ask you accept my shortcomings, and so - time to let this one go.

Go with the wind at your back and the sun on your face, and a song in your heart - and let love lead the way...............

Geocache Description:

Hello, my name is glorieme, and I'm a cachaholic.

Step Seven: I have humbly asked my caching friends to accept my shortcomings.

Shortcomings, my friend. Boy, do I have them! We all do. Humility, as a word and an ideal, has a bad time of it in our world today. Not only is it misunderstood, but the word itself is often intensely disliked. Much of the everyday talk we hear on the caching trail, and in a great deal of what we read, highlights our pride in our own achievements. And why not? We certainly should not depreciate our achievements. As goal-makers, we geocachers have made them, achieved them, and set higher ones to go meet. It is tough work! But humility is a necessity, my friend. And you very much need it for this step. I say to you, I fall short of of what many call "ideal" in any shape or form. But what is GREAT about the caching community we live in is this: we can accept each other for where we are - and be okay with them. You don't have to be friends with my shortcomings. You don't have to cache with me, love me, or live with me. But you can - by all means - be humble in return and accept me just where I am. That's all I ask...

I humbly ask you, cacher, to accept me and all my shortcomings. For in doing so, we can together achieve Step Seven. Humility does not mean you think less of yourself.........it means you think of yourself less. Only five more steps to go...............

(Please think of others and DO NOT park at the storage place or the dentist/business office. Park on the back side of the Marketplace.) Additionally: please note that Groundspeak rules prohibit attaching caches to trees with nails or screws -- but we have received permission from the City of Milwaukie to do so in this case, as they prefer this method over putting a wire ring around a branch, even if it is loose.
