Imagine you are a pilot of a huge passenger jet plane smoothly cruising in the night from Tokyo to Cairns.
All of a sudden there is a total failure of your navigation instruments. How to bring the aircraft and all the passengers safely to Cairns International Airport? After all everybody paid their ticket!
Now you urgently need the presence of mind to remember what you learnt in those bygone days when you still were a girl scout or a boy scout. Forget about all your unreliable auxiliary equipment! Anyway being above the clouds observe the bright starry sky instead and try to find SOUTH the SIMPLEST way.
To be prepared for such an emergency you may try first at home and on ground level.
