Geocache Description:

A series of 9 caches going both over and under the A50, the main dual carriageway taking you from Stoke to Derby and vice versa. Ive driven this route for the last 7 years and never knew some of the paths existed so close to what is a very busy road! The walk takes in 2 old churches worth a look at, and 2 pubs. The fields can get muddy after wet weather so appropriate footwear would be advisable. The paths are well signed but an OS map would be handy if you have one. There is a short stretch of road walking so please be careful with geokids and geodogs Parking is available in the layby (N52°57.806 W002° 02.918) and at St Margarets Church (N52° 57.529 W002° 01.828) A small tub suitable for swaps and travelbugs etc located on the outskirts of the churchyard. The ancient church of St Margaret, Draycott-le-Moors, stands on a small knoll of the north side of what used to be the main A50 road linking the Potteries to Derby. A small Roman settlement was located on the south side of the road, a few hundred metres beyond the site of the church. There is also evidence to suggest that a Saxon barrow existed in the area. The GPS had a major hissy fit here on both attempts to retrieve co-ords so they may be slightly out. Geocachers nose may be useful here, cache is NOT in the churchyard.
