kilbridekrew: Thanks to all the geocachers who attended this event - the weather smiled on us all - lots of enjoyable geochat whilst picking up litter - must have been at least 20 big bags of rubbish collected.

kilbridekrew invite you to join us and others
for a CITO event in Burnside village, near Doagh,
on Saturday 20th April 2013

INTERNATIONAL CITO WEEKEND
SOUVENIR ON OFFER
(awarded by geocaching.com)

Burnside village is situated in the valley of the Doagh river, a tributary of the Sixmilewater. The area was well known in the past for linen making – several linen mills were built. Some of these remain today, although they are now used for different purposes. Originally, most of the population was employed in the mills- however, today it is mainly a commuter village.

This is a community event with geocachers collecting litter alongside members of the local community

  • Meet from 10.30 – 11.00 am at the play park in the village (co-ordinates above).
  • Car parking is available at Cogry Mill (way-point given below). When walking to the play park please use the riverside path. (waypoint to path entrance given below)
  • The tidy-up will focus on the streets and country roads around Burnside.
  • Litter pickers, gloves, rubbish bags & hi-vis jackets will be provided (feel free to bring your own).
  • Hot refreshments will be provided at the end at the end of the tidy-up.-however, you may wish to bring a picnic.
  • We would be delighted to see you even if you can't be there at the start - the tidy-up will probably finish about 12.15 pm
  • Afterwards cachers may wish to explore the area and try to find many of its geocaches

Most importantly: - DRESS FOR THE WEATHER - HAVE FUN - LOOK AFTER EACH OTHER

A big thank you to Newtownabbey Borough Council for supplying the litter-picking equipment and to Burnside & District Community Group for refreshments

Please sign up to give us an idea of numbers for catering.
