St Marks Church, on the outskirts of Tunbridge Wells, can be seen from anywhere in the Kent town because of its hugely impressive one hundred and thirty foot tall spire. The church was built under the instructions of the Earl of Abergavenny who also paid the full cost of its construction. He chose the celebrated architect R L Roumieu to supervise the build. The first stones were laid on 20 October 1864 and almost two years later it opened for Divine Service on 21st August 1866.

“If anybody would like to expand to this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication. There is also a Church Micro Stats & Information page found via the Bookmark list”
