Geocache Description:

Brodsworth Hall - In Proportion

Brodsworth Hall is one of the finest, and most complete surviving, Victorian Country Houses in England.  It was constructed in the early 1860's for Charles Sabine Augustus Thellusson.  The Hall, a departure from the normal Victorian style, is Italianate in design and proportion, as favoured by Queen Victoria herself at Osborne House, and was conceived by an unknown Italian Architect, Chevalier Casentini.  It is said that Casentini never visited Yorkshire, fearing the cold. The construction was overseen by a London Architect, Philip Wilkinson.
