Geocache Description:

Brayshaws Hut on Boboyan Road....approx 60k's from Tuggeranong Hyperdome.

There has been a cache here previously by winglen (visit link) which has now be archived. Discussing the area with winglen, there were no plans to replace the old cache, and they were happy for this one (along with the new one across the road) to be placed to continue to highlight the area to the caching community.

Obviously, some of the longer term cachers have been here (many times) before, however with this cache, along with its new sister (visit link) now in place.......hopefully you'll visit again. (Who am I kidding........we know you will). For those cachers who haven't been down this way.....perhaps these two new, and other drive-by caches along the way, will tempt you to come for a drive.

THE HUT
Brayshaws was built at the turn of the century, using largely local materials of timber poles, split slabs and stone. David Brayshaw lived there for a number of years, until his death by an unfortunate accident. The building was then occupied by the Curtis family, who made a number of modifications including fibro and timber additions. They also built a shearing shed in 1936-7, which is now gone.

THE ROAD
The road to Brayshaws (Boboyan Rd) is negotiable by 2WD vehicles and varies in condition from very good to reasonable, depending on when it was last graded. Approx, the last 15k's of the road to the hut is dirt. Allow about an hour from Tuggeranong, give or take depending on the weather (and the driver!)

Please take care if driving along the road at night or early in the morning. There can be great numbers of kangaroos and wallabies...... even before the gravel section.

Take your time, have a look around Brayshaws and enjoy the excursion.

The cache is hidden between rocks. Spolier photo attached below.

(Winglen and ZsaZsa7 accompanied me on the day and will log their find after the FTF has been claimed.)
