Geocache Description:

This should be a quick park & grab.  No need to cross the fence.  Apparently the West Great Falls Flood Control & Water Conservation District is quite serious about NO TRESPASSING.

This dike system was built in the early 80's in response to the devastating flood of 1964 & the flood of 1975.  At that time the Sun River was flooding nearly every 11 years.  We have had a couple of high water years since, the last in 2011, but the dike system has never been truly tested.  The dike system runs for nearly 5 miles from the mouth of the Sun River back into the Sun River valley through west Great Falls.  This would make a nice bike trail, but access is severely restricted.  Residents of the area pay a reduced rate for flood insurance because of the dike, but face a severe rate hike if FEMA & the Corps of Engineers who built it do not recertify it.  Your governments bureaucracy in action.
