Located not far off the old highway alignment in historic Carlin Canyon on BLM administered land at an elevation of 4960 feet.
Before the freeway and tunnels were built, Carlin Canyon was the only passage through these mountains along the Humboldt River. Many early Native Americans, pioneers and emigrants passed through this steep-walled canyon. There are a couple interpretive kiosks and some interesting geology to be seen here. You may also spot a variety of birds around the cliffs, vegetation and water.
The cache is a regular ammo box with a fancy paint job and contains:
- Geocaching Letter
- Log Book, Pencils & Sharpener
- Cache In ~ Trash Out Bags
- 75 Keychains
There are keychains of all types in here so just about everyone should see something they like!
*IF YOU MAKE A TRADE, PLEASE STAY WITH THE THEME AND TRADE A KEYCHAIN FOR A KEYCHAIN.
