Scrutinise this! Mystery Cache

We all have our quirky little pastimes and hobbies, and the science that this cache is concerned with is one of my minor side-interests.

I don't wish to give away too much, but the whole adult citizen population of Australia has to get involved in it every now and again, whether they like it or not.

The final cache location is at:

E 146 5(F).(G)(H)(J)

The letters are 'representative' of locations, contained in a larger area, now all you have to do is work out their significance to solving the puzzle. Easy eh??

A = S 35 30.492, E 149 02.566.

D = S 21 10.296, E 120 19.666.

The cache container is a boring old 200ml Sistema with room for a logbook, pencil and a couple of small swaps.
