Geocache Description:

New location for 2022! Ulu La'au Nature Park is where you will park. The cache is located on the trail for Ke Ala Kahawai O Waimea, (aka "The Stream Trail" of Waimea). It is a 10-15 minute walk along a well groomed and flat trail from the parking area to the cache. It is an easy and very enjoyable walk.

This cache is part of a series along this trail. When your done with this cache, go just 7 minutes farther to another fun cache.

Please note: This is a daytime use only park and trail. Users and hikers after dark can disturb the neighboring residents (or their pets).

To get to the park: Look for the sign on Mamalahoa Hwy with the Kamehameha Statue for Ulu La'au - The Waimea Nature Park. (see photo below) It is just past the traffic lights in Waimea heading south towards Kona.



As you enter the park, you will be greeted with this sign.



Once your inside Ulu La'au, there are places to park your car. There are also a few picnic tables you can use. This is a wonderful little park! Get on the "stream trail" as indicated by this sign (see below) and head for the cache site. Check your GPS to make sure you headed in the right direction (toward the cache), because the trail goes in the other direction too.



Here is a link to the www site for the trail. http://www.waimeatrails.org/ The area where the cache is looks like an amphitheater. A cool resting spot next to the stream. Easy walk, pet friendly (must be on leash). Have fun! Cache is a mini so please bring your own pen.
