If the log sheet needs replacing plz do it for me as i am currently not in PE. I would appreciate it if it can be placed in a little ziplock baggie.
Once again the much missed little Apple Express choo-choo train's narrow gauge railway line is a location for a cache.
The entire length of the narrow railway line has exciting spots for caches and my contribution cache is located at a very neglected siding on this line almost at the end of a dirt road.
It is so sad that this tourist attraction has fallen by the wayside due to 'lack of funding' and Transnet stating that this line is not part of it's core business.
I understand that there are a few steam train enthusiasts and the ordinary man on the street that would like to see Granny Smith and Star King (the 2 locomotives) come alive again.
Perhaps the Great Steam train race will be re-instated. I remember it being a great teambuilding event for big corporates with relay teams taking part. Oh and not to forget the backup transport with the after party liquid refreshment and braai equipment.
It is going to take money, and lots of it, to restore all the rolling stock, lines, signals, locomotives, restore the water lines and find trained crew to operate the machinery.
In the meanwhile the PE geocachers will bring this to the eye of local and overseas visitors to PE.
The cache contains trade items and a log book but BYOP.
