The two best ways: catch Cable Car from the waterfront at Barceloneta, get off on the Montjuic side. Or catch the Esferic / Funicular from the metro stop Parallel. Walk down the hill until you reach Passeig Miramar, at the round-about connecting to Carrer de la Font-Trobada, you need to continue down until you find Refugi 307. Find the cache one street further down from the entrance to the bomb shelter.
During the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939), Barcelona was one of the Spanish cities that fell victim to air raids by Dictator Francisco Franco’s army and his allies, fascist Italy and Germany. These were the first major, consecutive bombing raids in history.
Due to the constant bombings, the local government ordered more than 1400 bomb shelters in Barcelona to be built, with the aim of protecting the civilian population. Today, these remnants of the Spanish Civil War in Barcelona are unknown to many therefore, but two of the most important bomb shelters are located at the base of Montjuic: Refugi 307. And Refugi de la Plaça del Diamant in the Gracia suburb.
