The castle Struzna
At the end of the 16 century, the owner Angel Mountain Linhart Colonna of Fels let the unusable fortress rebuild into a Renaissance castle instead.
Due to his participation in the uprising , his estate was confiscated in 1621 and sold to Herman Cernin from Chudenic. Herman Cernin renowned as a strict Catholic and opponent of the Protestant faith, which was preached all over his estate. Dismal situation after the Thirty Years War, poverty and hunger, led to clashes with the authorities and culminated in a peasant uprising in 1680, when the manor Cernin was one of the centers of unrest. Castle was probably modified by M. Ceresol, Fr. Caratti and G.B. Alliprandi also participated in the rebuilding. Cernin sold the castle in 1736 to Leopold Hartig, who extended it further.
Since 1794 the property was for a short period in ownership of Count Jan Stiebar from Buttenhaim. While he was an owner, this vista was painted. It captures the now non-existent state of the castle, as it was burned down in 1811.
In the second half of the 19th century Cernin- Morzins gave the castle neo-renaissance apperance. The last owner was Leopold Sternberk.
At present the castle is privately owned and therefore not open to the public.
