Geocache Description:

Het gebied Woensel-Noord is ingedeeld in vier wijken en 21 buurten.

Driehoeksbos is een buurt in de wijk Ontginning, in het stadsdeel Woensel-Noord in de Nederlandse stad Eindhoven.

De naam van de buurt komt van een groot driehoekig bos- en heideperceel dat eind 19e eeuw was aangelegd op deze locatie.

Rond 1950 was hiervan al het grootste deel verdwenen, onder meer om plaats te maken voor een hoogspanningsleiding en later is er een gemeentelijk sportpark aangelegd waardoor de rest werd gekapt. Slechts het noordelijkste puntje van het oorspronkelijke bos is nog over.
Dit ligt echter net buiten de buurt Driehoeksbos, aan de overkant van de Marathonloop, in de Achtse Barrier.

De meeste woningbouw is de laatste jaren van het vorige millennium gebouwd

The area Woensel-Noord is divided into four districts and 21 neighborhoods..

Driehoeksbos is a neighborhood in the District Ontginning, in the city part Woensel-Noord in the Dutch city of Eindhoven.


The name of the neighborhood comes from a large triangular forest and heath-area that was artificially laid out at this location in the late 19th century.

Around 1950 this was already for the most part disappeared, partly to make room for a power transmission line and later a municipal sports ground was developed, and the most of the rest of the forest was cut down. Only the northernmost tip of the original forest is left.
This, however, is just outside the Driehoeksbos neighborhood, across the street from the Marathonloop in the Achtse Barrier.

Most housing was built in the last years of the last millennium.
