Na lang twijfelen heb ik besloten dat het nu mooi geweest is. Ik ga deze cache dus niet weer vervangen.

Daardoor wordt ook het bestaansrecht van de rest van de serie deels aangetast. Ik zal dan ook (een aantal van) de bijbehorende caches (bijvoorbeeld indien er onderhoud nodig is) niet meer vervangen en langzaamaan op gaan ruimen.

Het gebied Woensel-Noord is ingedeeld in vier wijken en 21 buurten.

Woensel vormt het noordelijke deel van de gemeente Eindhoven, gelegen tussen de spoorlijn naar 's-Hertogenbosch en Tilburg en de rivier de Dommel.
Het is grotendeels volgebouwd en tegenwoordig verdeeld in twee stadsdelen, Woensel-Noord en Woensel-Zuid, met samen ruim 110.000 inwoners.

De gemeente Woensel, die naast het uitgestrekte Woensel zelf ook kleinere nederzettingen zoals Vlokhoven en Acht omvatte, werd in 1821 samengevoegd met Eckart tot de gemeente Woensel en Eckart, waarvan de naam in 1896 weer teruggebracht werd tot Woensel, en die in 1920 opging in de gemeente Eindhoven.

De oudste verwijzingen naar Woensel die we kennen zijn uit de 12e eeuw: in 1107 komt het voor als 'Gunsela', in 1172 als 'Wonsele'. De uitgang -sel of -sele komt veel voor in plaatsnamen, bij voorbeeld ook in de naburige acht zaligheden; die kan afkomstig zijn van het Germaanse woord 'sela', huis met een kamer, waar ook ons 'zaal' van is afgeleid. Het eerste deel is dan vaak een persoonsnaam; Jan de Vries zegt 'Wodo' , terwijl Jacob Grimm in zijn Duitse Mythologie (1835) denkt dat de god Wodan wordt bedoeld.
Een alternatief, genoemd in Buddingh (1811), is om in '-le' het woord loo (bos) te herkennen; dan zou de naam kunnen betekenen: Wodo's of Wodans bos.

The area Woensel-Noord is divided into four districts and 21 neighborhoods.

Woensel forms the northern part of the municipality of Eindhoven, located between the railway to 's-Hertogenbosch and Tilburg and the River Dommel.
It is largely built up and now divided into two districts, Woensel North and South, with over 110,000 inhabitants in total.

The municipality Woensel, next to the vast Woensel itself included smaller settlements such Vlokhoven and Eight, was merged in 1821 with Eckart to the municipality Woensel and Eckart, which name was in 1896 brought back to Woensel, which merged in 1920 in the city of Eindhoven.

The oldest references to Woensel we know are from the 12th century: in 1107 it occurs as 'Gunsela', in 1172 as 'Wonsele'.
