Once again we are inviting you back to this quiet little PARK in New Milford for a day of trail cleaning and fun on the pond.
Sunday, May 5, 2013
This quiet, unspoiled little pond and park are a true gem. Hidden in the hills of eastern New Milford it is a great location for hiking, fishing, canoeing and kayaking.
There are currently 7 caches here, but it could use many more. "Friends of The Reservoir Committee" wants you all to know that this is a "Geocache Friendly Park" and have been out to find some of our caches themselves. They also wish to express their gratitude for the work we have done there in the past and are looking forward to us spending another day helping keep the park clean.
But it is not all work and no play. Because of our work in the past and the continuing efforts by geocachers to maintain the trails, there is not much trash there to be removed.
Here is what has to be done:
Clean some trails.
Clean fishing debris from around pond edge (kayaks useful here)
Remove some fallen timber from past storms.
Clean beaver debris from below the spillway.
Beside that, we will be having a potluck picnic at the parking coordinates and free time on the pond. I and a few others will have watercraft for you to try out if you don't have one yourself but you are urged to bring your kayak, canoe, paddle boat, raft, inner tube .... whatever you have for some fun on the pond. Certain items will be hidden around the pond and prizes given for their retrieval.
Plan to gather at the parking coordinates at around 9:00 A.M. Bring food and grills for a picnic at noon and let us know what your are bringing.
PLEASE REMEMBER TO BRING SOMETHING TO SHARE FOR THE POT-LUCK LUNCH. WE WILL HAVE A GRILL GOING.
