Warm up
To get warmed up, let's consider π (pi) for a moment. From School we know that π is approximately 3.14, but to solve this mystery you will need to use a more exact value. Π is also the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter, see Wikipedia.
The formula for the circumference C of a circle, given its radius r is
C = 2 π r
Now, if you consider putting a rope 1 meter up from the Equator, all way around the globe, this rope will only be 6.28 meters longer than if you had put it at the Equator itself. Amazing, huh? Understanding why will not lead you to the cache itself, but explaining this in the log will give you bonus points.
