Sai Kung was founded between 1402 and 1424 by Chinese sea farers and used as a port of call during trade with the West.
The town stayed a sleepy fishing village until 1978 when a large scale reclamation project was undertaken to vastly increase the size of the town. (If you stand in front of the Tin Hau Temple today, this is where the sea used to be!)
Today Sai Kung is home to housing estates, countless restaurants and shops, large scale sporting facilities, public transport interchanges, piers and a big harbour that doubles as a typhoon shelter.
Although the old part of Sai Kung is now dwarfed by the newer parts, it still maintains it's rustic charm and unique character.
Old Town went through a government funded revitalization scheme from 2008 to 2010 and today more and more businesses, restaurants and coffee shops have relocated back into Old Town making it a great choice for lunch or relaxing with good coffee.
(It also houses the only Michelin Star restaurant in Sai Kung).
Also don't miss the beautiful Tin Hau temple. Built in the 1910s and recently renovated, it is one of the better examples of a Tin Hau temple in Hong Kong.
If you've never been through the narrow alleys of Old Town, you might find it very crowded and busy at first, but if you take your time and wander round, you can easily fall in love with this unique and historic town!

The posted coordinates are the starting point for this cache. It is near the famous Tin Hau temple and serves as your entrance point into Old Town.
When you get to the coordinates, look down and follow these instructions:

The last instruction is not marked like the others, but you will know when you found the right place!
From here, go up the steps, turn right and look for a small bamboo forest on your right.
