Rainbow or Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow was formed in 1975.
While the initial incarnation of the band didn't produce many hits, Rainbow did introduce us to Ronnie James Dio.
Dio was widely hailed as one of the most powerful singers in heavy metal, renowned for his consistently powerful voice. He is also credited with popularizing the devil horns hand gesture.
Dio went on to front such bands as Black Sabbath, Heaven and Hell and Dio.
