The impressive Burnham Overy tower Windmill was built in 1816 by Edmund Savory and is a prominent feature in the skyline. The mill is six storeys high with a ground floor diameter of 24 feet and a stage set around the first floor. The 4 sails have a span of 81 feet and each had 12 bays of 3 shutters and drove 3 pairs of stones. The mill was owned by the Savory family for one hundred years before it was sold to Sidney Everitt in 1916. Sadly the mill ceased working in 1919 and in 1925 it was sold to Mr Hugh Hughes who then presented it to the National Trust for preservation in 1958.
