State parks require a $10 parking fee or a Poppy Pass. Or you can park on the Old Foresthill Road and hike down for free.

This is a great road/trail used mostly by die hard bike riders. So if you start the trail here, watch your back. 

Further down the trail you will see a great overview of the American River and the rock quarry.
